The COVID 19 STORY: 5 Artwork pieces that unfold, and archive for posterity, a New York pandemic story. Original New York Times newsprint clippings with watercolour. Matted and framed.

$9,850.00

Selling as a Collection: a Series of Five (5) artworks in mixed media. These original pieces were created during the pandemic lock down, in Canada. Newsprint clipped from the Sunday New York Times became the genesis of each piece, during a three month window, from March 2020 to June 2020:

  1. “Provocation 2020”
    22 x 30 Original watercolour, framed.
A new time for humanity, when ‘six feet’ needed defining for all of us. How could we know the trajectory of a sneeze, nor the devastating epidemiology that awaited?

  2. “HousePlant, 2020”
    18 x 26 Original watercolour, framed.
We began to understand the respiratory implications. And we are told to wait. Indoors.

  3. “Spring Comes to Paris, 2020”, framed.
    22 x 30 Original watercolour
A spread in the Times paper showed cities around the world, emptied. Spring felt ominous, coming over a vacant Place Vendome.

  4. “Times Square, New York, NY, 2020, framed.
    18 x 26 Original watercolour
Broadway Shows were cancelled. Businesses began to go under: the irony of Forever 21.

  5. “Written on the Wind, NY, NY, 2020”, framed.
    18 x 26 Original watercolour
The New York city morgue became overwhelmed. So many elderly loved ones died. Here are one hundred deaths, as published, and cut from the Times. Their names have been painted into this moth transformation. The artist’s memorialization of unknown persons.

ALL- archival New York Times News clippings, from the first year of the Covid-19 Pandemic, 2020, set to five (5) abstract watercolour constructs. All art created and held by BL Cane Blackwell.

Framed OPTION: Grey beechwood. Series sized to same frame size. Matted with Glass. This is an additional cost. Images will be privately shared, please contact the Artist: Brenda Cane Blackwell
